Why should I choose a wall light in my home?

• Wall lights are the perfect basic lighting in any room.

• Wall lights are finished in different materials and colours, making them perfect for all kinds of home styles. Something for everyone!

• Wall lights can be used as accent lighting: for example, when you want to highlight a painting in the hall or a beautiful cupboard in the living room or bedroom.

• In general these lamps take up little space: you mount them on the wall, so you don't bother with cords on the floor, or that (like with a floor lamp) the lamp takes up a lot of space in the room.

What is the perfect height for a wall lamp?

There is no "perfect" height for a wall lamp. The choice of this is very personal which height you like best. It is usually chosen to mount the sconces at eye level: a height of 160-170cm is used as a benchmark. That way, you avoid glare because you are not looking directly into the light source.

Are there wall lights in different living styles?

At lampandlight, you will find wall lights in all kinds of living styles:

• Modern wall lights: modern wall lights are sleek and stylishly finished, often in simple colours such as black, white and grey. Modern wall lights can be an addition in different living styles because they are very timeless.

• Rural wall lights: rural lamps have a rustic look. Beautiful finishes in wood and bamboo and in natural colours such as brown or cream.

• Industrial wall lights: a tough choice, industrial wall lights. These wall lights have a more robust finish in steel, raw wood or a concrete look.

These are our most popular wall lights:

• Black wall lights

• Wall lights for the bedroom

• Industrial wall lights

• Outdoor sconces

• Golden wall lights

How do I mount a wall lamp?

A wall light has a mounting bracket. You unscrew this and attach it to the wall with the (usually) supplied screws and screw plugs. Slide the wall lamp over the mounting bracket and screw it on. This is usually done with two screws on the raised edges of the mounting bracket.

How does a wall lamp work without a cord and plug?

Wall sconces without cord and plug are operated by means of a wall switch or via an on and off button on the wall lamp itself (if the lamp is equipped with one). An even more efficient option is to add a smart light source to your wall lamp. With smart lighting you can control your lights remotely with your smartphone or tablet. You then connect your lamps to the WiFi at your home and you control your wall lamps from a distance. Super handy! Go to our smart lamps!

What types of wall lamps are there?

• Up and down lights
An up and down light wall lamp is a real atmospheric addition that provides indirect lighting in your room. These lamps have a directed light beam upwards and downwards. The light beam that shines downwards can also be used as a reading lamp or to put something in the spotlight (for example, a cupboard in the hall).

• Dimmable wall lights
Wall lights with a dimmer function are a must as far as we are concerned. You decide when to leave the light on bright, or when to dim it. We often use bright lights during the day or when we want to work or read. We dim our lamps when we want cosiness in our interior!

• Wall lights with switch
These wall sconces have a switch on the wall plate that allows you to turn the lamp on and off. At lampandlight you will find this lamp in various colours, materials and interior styles.
