From the classic incandescent bulb to modern LEDs and smart lighting systems, each type of light source has its own unique characteristics and applications. We dive deeper into the different types of light sources, their characteristics and where they look best!
Dimmable light sources
Dimmable light sources are lamps that you can adjust to change their brightness. This allows you to adjust the atmosphere in a room to suit your needs, such as bright light for activities or softer light for relaxation. They also help save energy by using less electricity when you dim them. There are different types of dimmable light sources available, such as LED bulbs, incandescent bulbs and energy-saving bulbs. It is important to check that the dimmable light sources are compatible with the dimmers you have or plan to install.
LED light sources
LED light sources are energy efficient and sustainable options for lighting. LED light sources have become the standard light sources nowadays, other kind of light sources are hardly sold anymore. They offer instant lighting with no warm-up time and are available in different color temperatures, shapes and sizes. Although more expensive initially, they save money in the long run because of their lower energy consumption and longer life. LED light sources are suitable for a variety of applications and are ideal for both home and workplace.
Smart light sources
Smart light sources, known as smart bulbs, are a handy addition to modern lighting systems. You can control them with your smartphone, tablet or voice assistant. This gives you the freedom to adjust the brightness, color and schedule of your lighting wherever you are.
In addition to their ease of use, smart light sources offer convenient features such as geofencing. This allows them to automatically turn on or off based on your location. This means, for example, that lights will automatically turn on when you get home and off when you leave, saving you energy. Although the initial cost is higher than traditional bulbs, smart light sources offer many advantages in terms of convenience, flexibility and energy efficiency, making them a worthwhile investment for both home and office use.
RGB light sources
RGB light sources are lamps capable of producing light in different colors by combining red (Red), green (Green) and blue (Blue) light. This type of lighting offers a wide range of color options and can be adjusted to create the desired atmosphere and ambiance. Whether you are looking for bright colors for a party or softer tones for relaxation, with RGB light sources you have the ability to experiment and adjust your lighting to suit any occasion. In addition to offering a range of color options, RGB light sources often have additional features such as dimmability and programmable lighting scenes.
Filament and decorative light sources
Filament light sources, also called vintage or Edison bulbs, are lamps that look like old-fashioned incandescent bulbs. They have a visible filament design that produces a warm and nostalgic light. Filament lamps are perfect for adding an old-fashioned atmosphere to modern lamps. They come in different shapes, such as standard, globe and tubular, and are often used for decorative lighting.
Decorative light sources are lamps designed specifically to look beautiful. They come in a variety of shapes, colors and patterns and can add a unique and stylish touch to any room. Whether you're looking for an eye-catching chandelier lamp for the dining room or a fun LED lamp for a party, decorative light sources offer many ways to brighten up your lighting design.
Head mirror light sources
Head mirror light sources are lamps with a unique design in which the reflector is coated with a thin layer of silver or aluminum. This reflective coating causes light to be directed primarily in one direction, creating a focused and concentrated lighting effect. Reflector light sources are ideal for applications where direct illumination is desired, such as in display cases, shop windows, or as spot lighting in domestic or commercial settings. They are available in a variety of shapes and sizes, such as GU10 or MR16, and are a popular choice for both functional and decorative lighting.
Different shapes: ball, candle-shaped, spiral
Light sources come in a variety of shapes, including spherical, candle-shaped and spiral. Ball-shaped lamps have a spherical design and are often used for general lighting in household fixtures. Candle-shaped lamps have a slim design that resembles a candle and are often used in chandeliers and sconces for a decorative effect. Spiral lamps, also known as energy-saving lamps or compact fluorescent lamps (CFL), have a twisted shape and are energy-efficient options suitable for various lighting applications. Each type of light source has its own unique characteristics and applications.
